The Sunday Reset: A Ritual for Rest

A calm, softly lit interior
A gentler way to start the week.

Rest is a ritual here, not a reward. This is the simplest version of mine: forty-five minutes on Sunday that give Monday a clean runway.

Step one: close the loops (15 minutes)

Get a sheet of paper and write down everything still open: the text you owe, the bill you forgot, the idea you keep circling. You’re not doing them. You’re parking them where you can see them. Open loops are loud; a list turns down the volume.

Step two: clear one space (15 minutes)

Pick one surface: the nightstand, the desk, the kitchen counter. Clear it completely, wipe it down, and put back only what belongs. Your environment is always talking to your nervous system. Give it something calm to say.

Step three: set the week’s intention (10 minutes)

Not a to-do list. One sentence about how you want the week to feel. “Steady.” “Present.” “Brave about the hard conversation.” Write it where you’ll see it Monday morning.

Step four: do one thing for joy (5+ minutes)

Music loud in the kitchen. A walk with no destination. Calling the person who makes you laugh. Joy is maintenance, not decoration.

Why Sunday

Sunday sits between what happened and what’s next, which makes it the natural hinge of the week. A hinge needs oiling. That’s all this is.
